The 29th July sees the release of the updated ITIL® Service Lifecycle publications, with PDF and e-book versions will follow shortly after.

Which books are being updated?

The core Service Lifecycle publications have all been updated. These are Service Strategy, Design, Transition, Operation and Continual Service Improvement.

What’s changed?

The new books are updates, rather than a new version. They don’t introduce any new concepts to ITIL®.

The updates come as a direct result of feedback from readers around the world. The books are now easier to read, understand and relate to one another.

The Service Strategy book has the largest number of updates which make it clearer, more concise and more accessible. The concepts themselves however have not been simplified in any way; only their explanations have been re-organised and are now more clearly described.

Should I wait to buy the new books?

The 2011 editions should be easier to read and more accessible, especially the Service Strategy title. They don’t bring any new concepts however, so you’re not missing out on anything if you buy the books now.

What happens to the ITIL® qualifications?

Training courses and exams based on updated syllabus from the 2011 titles are available from the 8th August.

Like the books, the updates serve purely to better organise the content of ITIL® and detail the concepts with greater clarity. So, there’s no need to update qualifications you already hold, or put off ITIL® training until training courses based on the new syllabi arrive.

From the 8th August, Thynk’s ITIL® training courses will automatically be delivered from the new 2011 syllabi.

How do I get the new books?

The 2011 books are available for pre-order now from the bookstore. You can use the promotional code “ITIL2011″ when pre-ordering before the 29th July to receive a 10% discount off all new titles (£30.00 off the set of all 5 books).

You can also sign up and we’ll let you know as soon as they books are available.

More Information

Contact us on 01753 859 344 or by email at hello@thynk.co.uk and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

There’s is no grace period for exam re-sits after this period, either.

Fortunately, it’s not all bad news. The program has introduced a fast track entry method to achieve ITIL® V3 Expert for anyone who already holds the ITIL® V2 Managers certificate (also known as the ‘Red Badge’).

This new scheme allows existing Red Badge holders the opportunity to sit just three exams, rather than the usual route of seven to be certified as an ITIL® V3 Expert. The courses are:
